Cars Suck! -- Research

The Fatalities Database

Using the Freedom of Information law of New York State, we have been able to obtain copies of the accident reports for all pedestrians and cyclists killed in New York City in the past four years.

Volunteers are inputting this information to a computer database, which we intend to make available for queries and report generation over the World Wide Web.

This is time-consuming work, and we could use more hands to help with it; if you are willing to spend an evening or two inputting information from the paper forms, please contact Charles Komanoff. Anyone with technical expertise in constructing Web front-ends to databases, please give Michael Smith the benefit of your wisdom.
